RECORD OF RESULTS

A Record of Results for the People of the 88th District

GOVERNMENT REFORM | EDUCATION | TAX RELIEF | CRIME & SAFETY | HEALTH CARE | ENVIRONMENT

Amy Paulin is one of the Assembly's most effective and productive members.  She ranks in the top 3% of all Assembly members for sponsoring bills that pass both houses of the Legislature.

Amy is standing up for Westchester families by fighting for reform, improving schools, delivering tax relief, fighting crime and keeping families safe. She is committed to providing better health care for New Yorkers, making government more responsive, and protecting the environment.

Assemblywoman Paulin has been named a "Hero of Reform" by NY Uprising for her commitment to reforming New York State's government. She has sponsored legislation to ban Albany fundraisers, reduce the influence of special interests on elections, and completely overhaul the system for awarding member items. Amy has also worked to increase government transparency and accountability, which is why she authored legislation to strengthen the Open Meetings Law and to create a registry of all state boards and task forces.

Throughout her tenure, Amy has a record of bringing needed dollars to our schools.  Each year, Amy has led the Westchester County legislators to battle for a fair share of funds for our schools, recommending solutions, both budgetary and legislatively, benefiting our students and bringing needed tax relief for homeowners

For the second year in a row, Amy broke with the leadership of her own party and voted against the Assembly's budget resolution, which was based on borrowing $2 billion to balance the state budget.  Amy strongly advocated for a balanced budget with serious reductions in spending based on accurate projections.  For having the courage to stand up to leadership while fighting for fiscal responsibility, the New York Post named Amy a member of "The New York Democrat Hall of Fame."  (March 26, 2010)   In another important tax relief measure, Amy supports circuit breaker legislation which would limit the amount of property taxes an individual pays based on his/her annual income.

Named a Leader in the Fight against Domestic Violence by the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NYSCADV), Assemblywoman Paulin authored landmark legislation, signed into law, that lengthens orders of protection in both the civil and criminal courts to assist those victimized by domestic violence. Amy also negotiated the groundbreaking law that makes human trafficking and labor trafficking felony offenses.

Assemblywoman Paulin has been a staunch advocate for improving health care for all New Yorkers. That is why she wrote the law that allows licensed pharmacists to administer flu and pneumonia vaccines. In addition, she voted to ensure families can afford to keep their health insurance by requiring insurance companies to obtain approval from the state superintendent of insurance before they propose to increase insurance premiums.

Assemblywoman Paulin was selected for commendation by the Environmental Advocates of New York due to her staunch support of the Environmental Protection Fund and other important measures. She has also received special recognition from the Green Panel- which includes many of the state's leading environmental organizations- for sponsoring their three "Super Bills" for 2010: The Global Warming Pollution Control Act, Electronic Waste Recycling Act, and Environmental Access to Justice Act.
